Comber Practice Info

Based at 56 Castle Street Comber the practice, originally J. Leitch Dental Practice, has recently been renovated and expanded to accommodate a new second surgery. Dr Rachel Maguire, Dr Anna Maybin and Dr James Connery have since joined the practice team and are now able to resume accepting new NHS and Denplan patients

Our philosophy is to provide patients with the care they want at a price they can afford. NHS treatment underpins our aims of health care provision, yet our team is also very experienced in cosmetic treatments and tooth whitening for those that request it. Commitment to Education, patient care and maintaining the highest standards makes Lawson Dental the dental practice of choice for patients in Banbridge, Comber & Ballynahinch areas.

All the practices are currently registering new NHS patients and aim to see emergency patients on the day they contact the surgery.

The Team

Dr James Connery
Dentist. GDC 104168

James graduated from University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2006 and completed Vocational training in 2007, he completed his MJDF, postgraduate qualification in 2012.

James joined Lawson Dental in September 2017, he previously worked in family NHS / Private practice in the Belfast Area for 11 years. He provides high-quality NHS and private dentistry with a patient centred focus.

He is continually involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and has postgraduate training in Dental Implantology and Facial Aesthetics. He has recently completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education from Queens University and has been a trainer of young dentists in Northern Ireland.

He is a member of BDA, Royal College of Surgeons, Dental Protection and fully registered with GDC.

James is married to Holly and has three boisterous boys to occupy his spare time!

Dr Anna Maybin
Dentist. GDC 228597

Anna graduated from Newcastle University in 2012 where she won the Marjorie Lamb and Jackson Long Prize for Dental Public Health.

Since graduating she has worked in NHS and Private practice in Newcastle and Manchester before recently returning home to Northern Ireland. Whilst in Manchester Anna completed the prestigious Tipton Restorative Dentistry Course and is currently studying for a postgraduate degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law (LLM) with the University of Manchester. 

Anna enjoys all aspects of dentistry and particularly likes helping anxious patients overcome their fear of the dental environment.

She is a member of the British Dental Association and regularly attends courses to keep her up to date with the latest techniques!

Outside of Dentistry, Anna enjoys cycling, hiking, sailing and skiing.

Erin Gregg
Dental Nurse / Reception. GDC 259812

Erin gained her National Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2015.

She was keen to enhance her skills further so went on to gain a qualification in Alginate impression taking through NIMDTA. This allows Erin to take impressions on patients to make teeth whitening mouth guards, sports guards, or Essix retainers.

She then went on to gain a qualification in Dental Radiography for DCPs with the British Dental Association. Still deciding which qualification to gain next. Erin enjoys attending spin classes in her spare time and is an active member of Spa YFC.

Claire Lockhart
Dental Nurse & Decontamination Lead. GDC 151565

Claire has been with the practice since 2007.

She attained her dental nurse qualification in 2008.

Claire is now practice lead in decontamination.Claire enjoys surgery work and helping keep patients calm.

Claire likes swimming and keeping fit in the gym.

Gayle Bustard
Dental Nurse. GDC 157230

Gayle has been dental nursing for 14 years she gained her National Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2005.

She has worked alongside Dental Implant Specialists but prefers working in a General Dental practice (where she gets to look after a wide variety of patients every day) and also has a keen interest in oral hygiene.

Gayle also is a very keen cake baker – the irony!  They taste amazing and look even better!

Samantha Mulraine

Sam is our newest Dental Nurse. Sam previously worked caring for the elderly in the community. Sam has enrolled with BMC to begin working towards gaining her National Diploma in Dental Nursing.
Outside of work Sam loves to go for ice-cream on a sunny day with her 5-year-old son, Riley. Sam enjoys cooking and some times thinks she could be the next Gordon Ramsey – Riley doesn’t think so!
